SEO is one of those popular buzz words going around in today’s marketplace. But what really is it? We turn to Dominate With SEO a local Minneapolis SEO agency to help us with this one. According to Sam Romain, the founder of Dominate With SEO (which has now grown to work with companies across the nation including Fortune 500 companies) SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and that is the process of optimizing a website to rank higher in the “SERPs” aka Search Results Page. Now historically, this has all been like a magic wand we thought SEO’s only had access too but Sam does a great job of simplifying this for us. Basically, he breaks it down into three major requirements to rank. On-Page, Off-Page, and User Metrics. To briefly touch on each one. On-Page is all the technical aspects of the site including meta, tags, headers, clean coding, adhering to W3C standards, proper speed, mobile optimization, image alt text, and even file names. But also included are non-technicalical components of a website like content. Good ol’ quality content. Off-Page are things link inbound links, citations, and a consistent NAP (I would love a nap!) The last piece is user metrics. What are user metrics? User metrics are the statistics tied to each user. Things like Time on Page, Bounce Rate, Click through rate, activity on the page. Basically, the more a user engages with your website the higher Google begins to trust your website is what the consumer actually wants. Anyways, I’m off to go work on my own SEO, but for those who want an expert to deal with it give Sam over at Dominate With SEO a call! Peace!
